Project Mondays Scorecard: Week Two
I had planned to rail against Van Hollen, yet again, for the Election Day post. But, when I sat down, I pounded out the bulk of the rant James delivers in “American Musings,” then drunkenly wrote around that. I haven’t looked back on it, so I have no idea if it even makes sense.
Since this whole project is sort of a flash fiction thing…or something…I figure one tactic to avoid dragging me down is to never look back. Throw it out and see what flies… Worry about editing later when I sort everything out and see if a printed series of vignettes are possible. To remind you — what I’m doing is spending an hour or two each Monday and just vomiting out the week’s worth of articles. Because I like being crazy.
Open Hearts on Wednesday almost got pulled. What gets me in the most trouble as “Nacho Sasha” is when I blur the lines. I think there’s a large group of my friends who think of me more as Nacho than my real life persona. I also think there’s a disturbing number of relationships I’ve had where the girls were first attracted to Nacho, then disappointed to discover a very different person in real life.
In writing (or whatever it is I’m doing on GS), having a persona – creating it, maintaining it – is more of a tool. A theatrical formula for putting rants together that borrows from the imagination as well as experiences. I guess I should pat myself on the back when people can’t distinguish fact from fiction, or take me far too seriously. But it’s always annoyed me in the internet world because the response is something of a knee jerk. Any damn fool can write an email… There’s no hiding behind a book that nobody reads, a PO Box nobody cares to write to.
But, again, no looking back. Vomit this shit out and see what works.
Thursday was yet another Customer Service transcript. And that might be the last one for awhile.
Friday was an ode to an intern.
