The goal is to get to a point where I\u2019m comfortable with the discipline of writing.<\/p>\n
And it\u2019s harder than I thought.<\/p>\n

“Figment” is a back-up story.\u00a0 This was supposed to be the intro for my Dan Brown-esque “Return of Pan,” but that story stalled after 3000 words and I just couldn\u2019t get into it.\u00a0 So, for the first time since I started this project last September, I gave up and moved on.\u00a0 There\u2019s no time to stall, really.\u00a0 That\u2019s also part of the discipline.\u00a0 Don\u2019t get mired in minutiae, and don\u2019t get snowed under by negative thinking.<\/p>\n
The idea for “Figment” came while I was in the mire.\u00a0 About 500 hurriedly scribbled words, A Boy and His Dog<\/em> sort of head-talk conversation.\u00a0 Most of it still survives in part one, posting next week.\u00a0 I jumped ship and got to work. Though, still, slow moving.\u00a0 I write this as part four of “Frozen” posts, and I\u2019m only halfway through “Figment.”\u00a0 Part of the thrill with this sort of free-form writing is that I have no idea how it ends.\u00a0 I don\u2019t even try to write towards that goal.\u00a0 It simply has to end somewhere betwene ten and twelve thousand words, and that\u2019s the only end of the line goal I allow.
