True! I wouldn\u2019t bring it up except that I subscribe to hundreds of somewhat similar blogs on Google Reader and, when Clark<\/st1> died the other day, it was a bit much. <\/span>Everything was: OMG Clark<\/st1> be ded!<\/p>\n

My friend used to be on Clark\u2019s gardening staff in <\/st1>Sri Lanka<\/st1> and knew the old coot fairly well. <\/span>In the way a gardener is always peering into your windows looking for valuables. <\/span>What most Sri Lankans suspected, and what Clark<\/st1>\u2019s staff all witnessed, was that he would often invite boys onto his compound. <\/span>My friend witnessed many sexual encounters with children openly performed on the back patio. <\/span><\/p>\n

The rules that we know and love in the US don\u2019t really apply in Sri Lanka, and one of Clark\u2019s many reasons for relocating to that troubled country was just that: <\/span>To prey upon the children. <\/span>A famous pedophile as far back as the 80\u2019s, it\u2019s amazed me that he\u2019s escaped scorn and ridicule in the press. <\/span>It\u2019s much as if Jesus liked little boys, I think. <\/span>You wouldn\u2019t talk about that\u2026 You\u2019d talk about all the Jesus stuff and ignore the pedophilia. <\/span><\/p>\n

Still, though, thank god Jesus had a hankering for the girls. <\/span>Because, that way, even the skeptics who don\u2019t buy into the shine and glamor of the story can\u2019t find fault in him. <\/span>Yes, he hung out with a bunch of guys\u2026but they were always surrounded by hot prozzies. <\/span><\/p>\n

Clark<\/st1> didn\u2019t hide it. <\/span>He was raping little boys left and right and living the good life. <\/span>The long, carefree, uber-rich good life.<\/p>\n

Here, I\u2019ll say it: <\/span>Fuck you all for mourning him. <\/span>Sure, he pioneered this and that. <\/span>Hitler pioneered the highway and affordable automobiles. <\/span>If the \u201cblogosphere\u201d was around in 1945, would there have been a ton of articles mourning his death? <\/span>Oh! <\/span>How vital he was! <\/span>The great things he did!<\/p>\n

Wake up, people. <\/span><\/p>\n

If it bleeds, it leads, right? <\/span>And some ancient sci-fi author doesn\u2019t bleed or lead. <\/span>Debra Lafave. <\/span>Man, she leads. <\/span>And, I imagine, bleeds periodically. <\/span>The media\u2019s all over her. <\/span>And, to be honest, if I were a young boy getting raped, I\u2019d rather she do it than Arthur C. Clark. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/st1>America<\/st1> has a bit of a blind spot when it comes to rape and abuse. <\/span>We don\u2019t like to talk about it unless it\u2019s really glitzy. <\/span>Sure, the Muslim fundamentalists stone the rape victims and let the rapists go but, at least, there\u2019s some twisted acknowledgment that foul shit went down. <\/span>Americans won\u2019t even bother stoning the rape victim, unless they make enough of a fuss to start costing people money. <\/span>You should just shut up and roll with the punches. <\/span>The mere fact that \u201cdate\u201d rape even exists is sickening. <\/span>Rape is rape is rape. <\/span>There\u2019s no way to qualify it. <\/span>I don\u2019t care if you know the person. <\/span>Is there such a thing as Date Murder? <\/span>Date Car Jacking?<\/p>\n

Okay, now I\u2019m kind of pissy and I\u2019m going to go sit in the corner and drink. <\/span>Open the pod bay doors, Hal, and let the boy scouts come and crawl all over me.<\/p>\n
