I take it we still have no idea what "the event" is?
Nope!
Laura Innes is a political prisoner at a secret Alaskan prison that's been run by the CIA for "many years" and at least four presidents. So she's either immortal or this is a generational prison. She's the "leader" of a group of 97 other prisoners, all at the same place.
While initially very worried that files have leaked to the president about "the event," we next see her embracing the whole idea and joining the president in Florida for a press conference to reveal to the world what "the event" is. (He decides to free the prisoners "even though they aren't American citizens" and despite the fact that his entire senior staff shits a brick and tells him he'll kill everyone if he frees them.)
Meanwhile, unknown agents are manipulating random people for unknown reasons in a vastly complicated and entirely ridiculous effort to fly a giant jetliner into the president's limo. As opposed to, you know, shooting him. Whoever can manipulate these people can also shut down the entire eastern seaboard -- radar, air traffic control, etc. So it's pretty obvious they can get to him at any time.
As the plane is veering for the limo (LOL), a portal opens up and sucks it and (presumably) two of our major characters away. There's a sonic boom, then everything's okay. Laura Innes says "They saved us" and the President, even though he has been FULLY BRIEFED, has read the secret files, and has talked with Innes enough to dress her up and put her on the world stage to tell us all about "them," asks, "Who are they?"
Huh? So he didn't know and he was putting an alien/monster/immortal/creepy chick up to talk to every press person on the planet?
Laura Innes turns to him and says, "There are some things I haven't told you."
Roll credits!
Facepalm!
