Even though I already have an iPad I'm considering splashing out a measly 200 for the Google Nexus 7 'cause it seems cool.
There will come a day for every man when he will relish the prospect of eating his own shit. That day has yet to come for me.

Is it a full operating system or something akin to the iOS?

It is an Android tablet. So...kind of the same as an iOS tablet. Unlike iOS tablets that have only one manufacturer (Apple), Android tablets are made by many manufacturers. This one is made by Asus for Google and is called Nexus 7. The one you have is made by Apple for Apple and is called iPad.

This concludes my lesson on tablet computers, their manufacturers, and their operating systems.

Tee-hee.

Hey -- when's that new tablet coming out? With the cover/keyboard thing? That's what I'm waiting on.

The Microsoft Surface. It looks cool, and will apparently have a full OS system.

Yeah. That's the first pad to catch my eye...which means I'll have to wait till 2014 to buy it because (a) it'll be fucked up this year and (b) it'll be $976,000 versus $47 next year.

So...Google Reader is going away...

I don't feel good about that at all.

I was upset when they first crippled it last year. There hasn't been a good replacement, either. I've tried everything... Newsrob, that flipbook thing. I want old school Google Reader back...

Alternatives!

http://www.theverge.com/2013/3/13/4101534/feedly-clones-google-reader-api

And these guys started on one when Google screwed up Reader last year: http://theoldreader.com/

The latter is currently favored by Something Awful and, so, is getting hammered right now in light of today's news...

I've been looking too. Supposedly if you let Feedly sync with your Reader before the death day...it will just transfer everything on the backend and keep working.

Almost a week in with Feedly... Still very happy with it. I'd forgotten how much I missed Google reader throughout the day. Now I can return to my filtered news. Doctor Who, Roman ruins, and astronomical events only! I'll be retweeting archaeological studies while the world panics at CNN news...
