Title: 2009 Hurrican't Season
Post by: nacho on March 03, 2009, 05:06:00 PM
Because it's never too early.  June 1st is the official start date.  The post-Latrina excitement has died down and, now, instead of predictions that read "OMG IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN!!!" we're getting normal, sedate predictions.  The current 2009 prediction is in keeping with the average for the last 60 years:  Three big boys, seven normal hurricanes, and 14 tropical storms.  Nothing to worry about.  So says Klotzbach's people, who are basically quoting the NOAA definition of an ordinary year.

Cass, however, has suggested more than once that this summer will see the apocalypse.

This year's storms:

    * Ana
    * Bill
    * Claudette
    * Danny
    * Erika
    * Fred
    * Grace
    * Henri
    * Ida
    * Joaquin
    * Kate
    * Larry
    * Mindy
    * Nicholas
    * Odette
    * Peter
    * Rose
    * Sam
    * Teresa
    * Victor
    * Wanda

Joaquin unleashes a storm of freestyle hip-hop so bad, it levels Charleston.

I was leaning towards Odette, as well.

Or maybe everyone will start breathing easy after nothing happens over the summer and then Wanda comes the fuck outta nowhere in November and decimates North and South Dakota.

I just have to remind myself, no matter how bad the storm gets.... never, ever mix tequila with Dr. Pepper.

God...if you've ever done that, then you are single-handedly responsible for Katrina.

that was our evacuation drink!

Joaquin will bring us to you again, Nubbs.  This time, though, if there is a real storm headed our way, we're not waiting til the last minute like last time.  just gonna get the dog and the cat and get the fuck out of Dodge.  evacuating for Gustav was a real endurance test.

Looks like that's the only way we'll get a hurricane this season!

Everyone needs to find-replace "fewer" for "more" in their reports on the effects of global warming on hurricanes.

I had read some "el Nino" article about how the Atlantic will get less hurricanes this year, but was too lazy to post it.

good ol' New Orleans passive-aggressive fear going on here as TD 2 may...MAY...turn into Ana.  Right now the depression is still technically in the Eastern Hemisphere but it was all over the news tonight.  i guess someone's got a warehouse full of flashlights and turn-crank radios they really need to liquidate.

Damn, the five day forecast has it going for the east coast.  We'll need Lex Luthor's weather machine to get it aimed at you guys.

My money's on either Ida or Odette.

Looks like we won't even get to Odette, but Ida is on it's way.  Gonna rain like a bitch here tomorrow night looks like.
