Wait...computers don't normally take 20 minutes to boot up? I never knew this!

I have 7 and it's nice. I got it for my mom's laptop-to-replace-desktop also, because she is not ready to learn a new OS...

Win 7 is the better bet for a desktop. Win 8 is strangely designed between touch-screen and desktop and ends up making people hate it.

Windows 7 on the new one? Or 8?

I went 7 because I'm scared of 8. Though I am getting a hand-me-down Windows 8 laptop from the grandfather next month. Unless he throws it against the wall before then.

God, I hate Fedex so much. Sitting here now waiting for the idiot to come with my computer.

Backed up this old one...and am now feeling really good about divorcing Vista

Well, this will be the HQ PC...not just for games.

I'm tempted to get a PC just for games... then I thought... no.

Will the RAM be compatible with the new motherboard/processor, or is that just a laptop problem?

Don't know! But cheap enough to upgrade...

Yeah. If this trend continues, my next computer (in 2020, right?) will have to be a custom build. Thought about it this time...but then considered my needs and just shut up and went for it.

I have 4 gigs of ram in the old computer, so I'll rip that out.

If you can get 128GB of RAM, Nacho, you'll be fine until the next Doom game comes out.

Get more RAM.

I do custom builds online via Newegg and/or system max. Tiger direct might.

I'm going with the config above...will update the soundcard later (and probably won't need to) and grab RAM from the old system. Plus...it's paid for by the contest AND a write-off. Amen.
