I loved it, but what he does fires all my synapses. Worth a look if you get a chance.
 

The Northman is on my list for sure. I hated The Lighthouse mainly because the actual historical story is even more crazy. The Witch was fun, though.

Don't know how much you've been keeping up with Robert Eggers (The VVItch, The Lighthouse), but I think he's one of the most fascinating directors working. Came from an Art Direction background and his movies are just gorgeous. Not for everybody, as he's way into dream logic and myth. The stories just aren't laid out for you. We just cut the cord. We were paying Xfinity $350 a month. We went with Youtube TV and get all the same services, plus Netflix, Paramount Plus, HBO Max, Showtime, Hulu, Disney, Epix, and Peacock for $96 a month. It's amazeballs. Unlimited DVR, faster response times, less heartache and screaming at the TV...

Whether you like Shakespeare on not, Joel Cohen's Tragedy of MacBeth is absolutely gorgeous. Visually, it's the Lighthouse meets 300. Stunning to look at. Performances are pretty good too. It's on Apple+ if you have it.

I'll give you it was too long, but everything is too long these days. (And the Ariana Grande concert is stupid, but if you listen to the lyrics, it'a part of the joke.)

I don't know. I liked it. I thought it was good cinematic social satire in a way I have seen for a bit.

I thought it was stupid, too long, and insulting. Half the actors phoned it in from their bathroom, and what's with the 20 minute Ariana Grande concert? If it were a 90 minute movie it would have been amazing. As a two and a half hour movie, it was just WTF?

Jennifer Lawrence stole every scene though.

Random movie reviews:

JoJo Rabbit... The best pure satire in decades that somehow manages to have a deep emotional core. It threads a needle you didn't even know existed. The kids are all fantastic and between this and Marriage Story, I'm becoming convinced Scarlett Johansson is the best actress of her generation.

Logan Lucky... Steven Soderbergh's carer has just sort of slipped by me. I put off watching Magic Mike because I thought it was softcore porn for women, but when Missus RC finally convinced me to give it a shot, I was floored by it's emotional depth. Yet, it all made sense when i saw it was directed by Soderbergh. Logan Lucky was the same thing. Somebody told me to watch it because is a West Virginia heist movie. Again, I was fucking floored by ow funny it was. (If not totally ridiculous.) Come for one of the best heist movies since Thomas Crown affair but stay for 100 cameos and  Daniel Craig in his most gonzo performance ever.

Yesterday, from Danny Boyle and everyone else, about a low rent musician who wakes up after an accident to a world that doesn't know who the Beatles were is a seriously lovely and charming movie. It's funny, it's touching, it's elegantly beautiful and there are a few tearjearker moments that are tearjerkers in just the right way for people of a certain age/Beatles fans.
