Hey! So, anyway, this happened.

Their infrastructure and people are royally fucked but, if they get their shit together, they're sitting on enough resources to turn themselves around over the next couple generations.

The world's newest nation will be South Sudan. They voted for independence in January and they go live -- in possession of 80% of Sudan's oil resources -- on July 9th.

Now, cleverly predicting this income, part of the agreement that allows South Sudan to come into existence guarantees that they share their wealth all around. So they can either break that treaty and start a war or spend however long cutting up their pie and handing the pieces out. I don't know how long the treaty's good for and don't care enough to research it because they'll squander whatever meager potential they have anyway.
