The second book keeps up the pace! Good stuff! Edge of Madness

Book three and still good! Edge of Darkness

On to Book four! What a fun series. Edge of Anarchy

Screamed through Book five and book six!

The Atlantis Gene! This author is so good at conspiracy thrillers. This was a perfect beach read. Diving into the sequel...

Book two of this series was just as good! The Atlantis Plague.

Read the finale and sorry to report that this guy doesn't know how to end a trilogy. The Atlantis World

So one of my authors raved about Extraterrestrial, which is written by an astrophysicist whose obsession is Oumuamua -- the strange asteroid that passed us a few years ago, changed course, and generally behaved like an artificial object. His thesis is that it's a light sail and, essentially, space junk from another civilization.

My author argued that this book was groundbreaking and life changing...and all the blurbers agree. What the book actually is is 1% the light sail thesis and 99% angry rant against the scientific community that ostracized this guy for putting forward the light sail theory. He spends so much time complaining about them and demanding that he's right it's exhausting. Instead of proving the theory, he spends the entire book trying to prove himself -- from childhood through today. A clumsy retort to his peers that does nothing to actually advance his theory. A theory, by the way, that the media and anyone who followed the Oumuamua story agrees with (including me -- it did behave as if it operated under its own power).

So...a waste of time. Fuck him.

Tokyo Ueno Station-- a short read, but also a slow read. A sort of deep navel-gazing study of a homeless man in the wake of the Fukishima disaster. Interesting.

Oh, god, Becky Chambers is the best active sci-fi writer in the business. Just finished the amazing Psalm for The Wild Built.

Jesus...I hope the TV series doesn't follow too closely with this talky, introspective, boring book series. The Witcher book two! The Time of Contempt.

This is actually book 2.5. The first book is a collection of out of sequence short stories that roughly made up season one of the show. The first full-length, in-order book technically launches the official series. But you can't read that book or this one without reading the "prequel" short stories.

Finished up Ararat, which is bubblegum candy adventure and involved a very low IQ.

Which is fine because I'm also reading a thousand manuscripts right now and yelling at agents.
