That's right. I'll be 33.

The "Post Messiah Years" begin.

It's strangely zen. I think all the inner turmoil of the half dozen people I know who turned 50 this year has somebody brainwashed me into thinking, "Well, at least I have ten more years before it gets *really* bad."

I use the Throne Maiden as my example for aging well.

Everybody I know who turned 50 had a weird existential crisis about not having lived the life they thought they should. Looking at my life right now, I'm not where I thought I'd be at 40, but I certainly don't look back with a whole lot of regret. I've had a pretty good life so far. I've done a lot of cool things with a lot of cool people. I've had little heartbreak and lots of good fortune. I've made the wrong choices for the right reasons, and done the right things when it felt all wrong.

If the second half of my life is half as good the first, I'll be all right.

I had my existential crisis when I was 12. Everything after that has just simply been exhausting. I've found myself, over the last year and a half, just sort of drifting into the mindset where I don't care anymore. Just shut the fuck up and pour the wine and let's watch Wrath of Khan again and don't fucking talk through Spock's death scene.
