I find it odd that we don't have a disaster movies thread...
So I watched San Andreas last night -- where The Rock has to save his family during a series of 9.6+ earthquakes that tear California aprt.
It is easily the best bad movie of 2015. It's also somehow small and not too insanely far-fetched. I mean...it is far-fetched, but he doesn't drive a car through a falling building and emerge without a scratch.
They've kept one foot firmly in 70s disaster movie porn, where people die and there are consequences and the situation is dangerous. Then they've also very successfully blended it with modern disaster movie porn where you can escape from an airborne cargo ship and avoid a collapsing building and outrun a fireball.
It is, of course, 99.99% ridiculous... But I was involved, engaged, and enjoying it throughout. It was well paced and fun.
Warning: I am a Rock apologist.
