Sequels You'd Love to See

So, I ran across this little bit of cinematic news today . . .

* * *

Kelli Maroney, who starred in the sci-fi classic “Night of the Comet” as Sam (“the little girl with the big gun”), will reprise her role in the sequel, NIGHT OF THE COMET II, which she will co-produce with Charlie Mason for his company, Ride the Rail Entertainment, which is clearing the rights.

The original film, long unavailable on DVD or video, was written and directed by Thom Eberhardt, and starred Maroney, Mary Woronov, Robert Beltran, Geoffrey Lewis and Catherine Mary Stewart, some of whom will reprise their original roles.

“I’m thrilled to be able to bring this one back,” said Maronrey, dropping into character as Sam the Cheerleader. “Like, what’s up with it not being out there? I’m so sure it totally has to be….”

In the original “Night of the Comet,” a comet wipes out most of life on Earth, leaving two Valley Girls (Maroney and Stewart) to fight evil flesh-eating zombies who survive the disaster. The zombies are led by mad scientists Lewis and Woronov. The girls hook up with a friendly truck driver (Beltran) and survive, presumably to repopulate the Earth.

The original film was financed by the Film Development Fund and released domestically by Atlantic Releasing Corp, Paramount, and CBS-Fox Video.

I didn't know whether to cheer or cry, but then again, there are probably worse movies having sequels made from them and worse sequels being made. (My Girl 2 anyone?)

So, what's your favorite movie that doesn't have a sequel that could have one?

I always opt for The Professional. (Or Leon if you want to be Tina Fey about the whole thing.) Supposedly a sequel has been in the works for years, but who knows if it will ever happen. Still, I'd love to see Mathilda (Natalie Portman) ten years down the road having to take out some sum'biches with all her kick ass french hit man training.

I vote for Beautiful Girls, strangely also with a young Natalie Portman--along with the rest of a great cast.

As long as Comet gets a DVD release, that's fine.  Eberhardt's really dropped the ball.  He and I exchanged emails about a year ago and he was totally out of touch with reality..

Much of his early catalog is lost or in dispute.

Addendum to my first post:

Army of Darkness II: yes... I realize that it, in and of itself, is a sequel to a sequel, but goddamn... that ending at S-Mart is fucking loaded with potential for the next movie.  I would be totally stoked to hear of another one.

Indiana Jones IV:  I've heard rumors of Ford coming back to play his classic role one last time, but as far as I can tell, they're just rumors.  Last I heard, he wanted to see them turned into a franchise like Bond (RAAAAAAD!)

Terminator 4:  I don't care what anyone says... these movies just keep getting better and better.  3 had me glued to my chair for 2 hours and the ending was astounding

Akira:  Prequel, sequel... I don't give a shit.  The first one was so awesome, it can't possibly hurt to tell another portion of this epic graphic novel, provided the same people make it.

Tie the laces around your tongue.

Tie other end of lace to a rail inside and elevator.

Stand outside of the elevator.

Has anyone else heard Kevin Smith is going to make Dogma 2? And if so, am I the only one that thinks this is a bad idea?
