Seriously, this hurricane bullshit is out of control.  It's like extreme wind and rain is a completely unexpected phenomenon that repeats itself for 4 months out of every year.  The reporting will only evolve once the focus is shifted to increasing poncho effectiveness.

I'm sick of July-September being "televised dingis in a windstorm" months.

Also, the newest "worst thing about the media" is this fucking Blogosphere bullshit.  Do you realize that a significant portion of our news coverage is now a couple of twits with European accents reading internet webpages to us?!  These fucking twats not only report (read: read) some cloistered nerd's ramblings to us, but also feel the need to stream his/her live webcam feed to us all while passing the whole thing off as "news".  Fucking bullshit... it's a doomed media.  I swear, I'd watch Fox News if their tagline was only, "Hey... What the fuck's a 'blogosphere' anyway?"

The blog thing is out of control. Most blogs are public diaries. Whatever. But treating it like it's going to kill newspapers is complete bullshit.

I will, however, say that some of the better/more popular blogs are very nice additions to the internet. Some have publicized events that the big media ignored. There's even been stories broken by those bloggers.

So I unplugged from the news, but just got an email from Cass which plugged me back in.  This Katrina thing is serious business, huh?  I knew there was some shit headed that way, but not a city killer.
