I'm taking heart in the fact that the GOP has taken three solid L's in a row, despite the fact that polls predicted they wouldn't... and 2022 was possibly the biggest win of them all when you consider how wildly geriatric and unpopular Biden is.
I watch the current state of the GOP and can't help but think they're paving the path to another Dem victory in 2024, whether Biden runs again or not. Sure, there may be no clear frontrunner for the Dems besides Harris, but man... I really think if Desantis is the GOP's best hope at this point, they're fucked. Especially if Biden manages to keep eking out policy wins over the next two years.
I was thoroughly underwhelmed with Biden 2021-2022 until the end of last summer. Then it seemed like he just kept ticking off big wins, even in the shadow of RvW being overturned and despite the fact that he was the "most unpopular" president in recent memory.
Maybe it's just my rose colored glasses, but I feel like Americans are fed up with the fear mongering and directionless hatred being spewed by the GOP... and they've told us as much in the last three elections. So if the GOP wants to use the next two years to investigate a laptop or fight imaginary CRT ghosts... then by all means, do it. I don't think it's going to end well for them, pandering to fringe lunatic candidates.
Trump is a has been (always has been)... and if he's their only legit viable option in 2024, I think most Americans will choose Joe Biden again. Desantis... who knows... but to me, his shine has been dimmed by the considerable losses the GOP suffered in 2022. Sure, he won Florida handily, but Florida is the California of the East in terms of politics... everyone watches the state, but few take it seriously in terms of being a reflection of how the rest of the country feels, politically speaking.
