This looks like a Force Awakens-style rehash of the exact same plotline.
I want the record to state that I said that somewhere, probably in the Star Wars thread.
I like this. Confession time:
Ghostbusters was never sacred to me. The first one is very, very good and one of the movies I almost know by heart. (Well, used to know by heart.) The second one is almost an embarrassment. Remaking it is fine, mostly because it was never concept fully explored to it's potential in sequels because nobody want to make one.
I like the trailer, though as Nacho says, it's a rehash of the first movie. I like the girls though. I like that I know all four of those girls, those "archetypes" if you will. Not to get too socially conscious because the sooner the world burns, the better, but from the trailer, I see four women that it'll be good for young American girls to see.
The movie has to be funny. And I don't think it'll be as on the edge as the original. Murray was in his prime and his comedy was an assault. (Aykroyd too.) This feels like it'll be safer, though McCarthy has a bit of that Murray wildness in her. She's Venkman right? I know they have different names but it seems obvious they're inhabiting the personas of the original.
I approve.
