$1K for the new iPhone.
I'm using my 7 until it falls apart in my hands.
Also, there are very few upgrades. A slightly faster processor, a slightly better camera, and wireless charging. So you're paying 1k for them to change the "7" to an "8."
Looks like this is the year of playing it safe. Samsung did the same thing with the Galaxy 8. I'm keeping an eye on the Pixel 2, but I'm not particularly excited. We've hit the mobile plateau, and the makers know it. They're going to ride brand recognition and make it as expensive as possible and run to the bank.
What happens next is going to be a big break in the technology -- either super-chips (already in testing) or a new battery technology (many exciting ideas still in the lab stage). Two things that are Not Very Far Away.
