I forgot to report in this morning! But I didn't die.

I noticed a lot of leaves in the road.
Some little trees planted in medians had been pushed over.
Various bad-for-you-but-still-patronized-by-me fast food places were not open this morning...despite having power...and those that were open were mobbed.
By lunch time...the world had largely recovered and returned to normal as far as I could tell.
It's still raining a little, but that should pass soon.

NACHO, I HEAR YOU CAN'T GET HOME!!

Man...just imagine zombies in those streets.

So all the folks down here are saying, yeah, of course DC dodged it. It's always the northeast edge. So they're back to laughing...and saying NJ and NY deserve this. "Let them get a taste of what we have to face every few years,"

And, as callous as that sounds, I agree. Eight years on and Katrina's scar is still across this city. And not because she was a murderstorm, it's because we ignored this part of America when it happened.

By the by, big love has been given to Reggie for his restoration efforts when I spoke up in defense of we northerners.

It warms my heart to hear it. I've got good friends who have been going every year between Christmas and New Years. They are planning this year's trip now.
