Reveal your vote!
« on: October 18, 2012, 03:59:34 PM »
Okay! Sample ballot time! And I'm going to have fun this year.

My protest vote will be Gary Johnson. Reggie and I will accidentally get him elected president by two votes.

My local people are all basically uncontested or Vampire Incumbents but, for senator, I'm voting for the no-party candidate Sobhani, because he's funny and a little crazy.

Question 1 humorously requires judges to practice law. Um...yes. Right? What?

Question 2 is more of the same.

Question 3 seems to think there's a question if an elected official is an axe murderer and the powers that be want to remove him from office.

Question 4 wants to give undocumented immigrants the ability to pay in-state tuition. Everybody is voting "no," I imagine, but I think that's a clear "yes" because I'm big on the whole "education should not be alienated" issue these days.

Plus there are so many pre-requisites to the law, it's ridiculous. You might as well vote no, I guess. Students must first complete 60 credit hours to qualify! So...in-state tuition will be for their, what? Last semester only?

Question 5: The ubiquitous redistricting question. I always vote yes, because, whatever.

Question 6: The Gays! Everyone is pretty confident that MD will overwhelmingly return a yes on the gay marriage question. I'm voting that way.

Question 7 outrageously wants us to expand gambling. I'm anti-gambling and hope these people die. They don't even hide the fact that they're going to lean on PG County (where the gentrification outcasts have all been exiled to). Voting yes for this is voting yes for usury.

Question A asks us to give the County permission to hire crips on a noncompetitive basis. Sorry. Darwin Voting for me.

Question B wants us to weaken the police unions. I don't think we should let management needle people who carry three different types of guns around.

How about you guys? Also, for people more intelligent than I am, explain how I'm wrong on the above choices for the questions.

Okay! RC is yellow dogging it!

President & Vice: B-Rock O-Bamma and Fightin' Joe Biden
(Though it should be noted that both Gary Johnson and Jill Stein are on the ballot.)

US Senate: Tim Kaine

House Member: Gerry Connolly, whom I've actually met.

Referendum #1:
Quote
Shall Section 11 of Article I (Bill of Rights) of the Constitution of Virginia be amended (i) to require that eminent domain only be exercised where the property taken or damaged is for public use and, except for utilities or the elimination of a public nuisance, not where the primary use is for private gain, private benefit, private enterprise, increasing jobs, increasing tax revenue, or economic development; (ii) to define what is included in just compensation for such taking or damaging of property; and (iii) to prohibit the taking or damaging of more private property than is necessary for the public use?

GOP sponsored, but this is where my redneck roots show themselves. Keep your hands off my land!

Referendum #2:
Quote
Shall Section 6 of Article IV (Legislature) of the Constitution of Virginia concerning legislative sessions be amended to allow the General Assembly to delay by no more than one week the fixed starting date for the reconvened or “veto” session when the General Assembly meets after a session to consider the bills returned to it by the Governor with vetoes or amendments?

Can I write in "Who Cares?'

Maybe you remember this thing called the Confederate States of America. Their capitol was in VA.

VA will be one of the last bastions of marriage inequality. It's a freak show down here.

America will be one of the last bastions of marriage inequality. It's a freak show down here.

I fixed that for you!

Because only, like, 6 states do it, right? And MD isn't a big deal. They quietly allowed it in March.  The Question on the ballot is just a referendum that the gay bashers managed to get on there. It's a done deal, and they don't have the support they think they have...and probably hurt themselves drawing attention to it. I really liked the Maryland tactic: Magic Quiet Law Time. What's this in my hand? No, no. Look over here... Look at the other hand...shiny...pretty...

Meanwhile, the entire first world (except for everyone's favorite police state, the UK), allows it.

My big problem with conservatives falls on issues like gay marriage. All the shit government should be concerned with, and that's what you choose to fight about?

It gets the people out. The vast, brainless middle America (who, really, decides our elections) is too stupid to get riled up about any issues besides gays and angry black men.

So the Conservatives have to cater to them...that's why Fox news is what it is. That's why the face of the Conservatives are these weird caricatures. They get their agenda advanced by making Joe Blow in small town FLA nervous about the fags.

I actually think we should be grateful that we're not a multi-party system. Can you imagine?

Yeah, it would be chaos.

Though I do think a viable third party would keep tings interesting and (a bit) more honest.

I will reveal my ballot publicly on Election Eve!

But maybe a little at a time here...

President, I'm going Elon Musk

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-09-13/elon-musk-the-21st-century-industrialist

When someone is that successful and driven over and over...I'm impressed and want him to be in charge.

I will vote Gary Johnson for the powerless VP position.
