Until Mo Yan, Chinese writer, won this years Nobel Prize for literature I'd never heard of him nor what he has written. Figured it would be worth checking out an author "who with hallucinatory realism merges folk tales, history and the contemporary."

His notable novels are:

Red Sorghum
Life and Death are Wearing Me Out
Big Breasts, Wide Hips,
The Republic of Wine.
