I still haven't watched The Mandalorian. Missus RC and I have decided to watch it between RotJ and TFA as part of our chronological saga rematch. (All the epodes should be out by the Rise of Skywalker release, yes?)

I reread our Star Wars thread to put off actual writing. Makes me miss old days GS.

They're doing the one a week thing. The series ends on December 27th.

You don't really need to be too plugged into the chronology. Episode one nods to the fall of the empire in the first 10 minutes, and then it's all space cowboy stuff from there on. (Though I think we're coming back around to the larger fallout from RotJ eventually.)

I miss the old days, too.

Episode 5 seems to be setting up the thing that we all thought they'd be setting eventually but it reeks of "Spock in Discovery" to me.

I'm waiting to watch until I get to see Sirharles on Saturday. But, by comparing it to Discovery, that can only mean that, suddenly, the Mandalorian ended up on the Millennium Falcon and is now an ancillary character as Han and Chewie take them on a journey to visit all of the stars from RotJ and TFA.

Has anybody watched Season 2 of the Mandalorian yet? Most of it has been spoiled for me, but I hear it's basically Clone Wars/Return of the Jedi porn.

Just finished it last night. My news blackout extends to all the places that usually spoil shit, so we were pleasantly surprised. Though the big twist ending was also a little gay.

I remain conflicted by Katee Sackhoff who seems to always play....Katee Sackhoff.

At least she has a type. That character is apparently a super huge deal of you watched all the Star Wars cartoons.

I'm excited to dig in to it, though I'm a little Star Wars overloaded somehow. The internet never shuts up about it. I need to curate the same news blackout you do.

My news blackout is now total. I'm down to reading tips and tricks for Crusader Kings 3 gameplay and Google reminders for when my favorite shows are premiering.

So my wife hates anything sci fi... it's horrible. Anything that has "space" or "dragons" and she's out immediately. I've held off on Season 2 of the Mandalorian since we only have one TV and I just never have time by myself to watch it. I enjoyed season 1 and was excited for season 2.

I finally got her to agree to sit down and watch with me. We made it through two episodes and half of the third before she was nodding off. Am I the only one who feels like... this is boring as fuck? I mean... the plot development is just nonexistent, it feels like. Every episode so far is just some convoluted misdirection that leads to an adventure that has nothing to do with the plot. It's like watching GTA / Skyrim side quests instead of... whatever the fuck this is supposed to be about.

I dunno... I keep thinking maybe it's because I don't have my TV hooked up to a stereo and am not watching in overwhelming, all-encompassing Dolby. Maybe it gets better? Maybe they're just setting up for this huge plot arc? It just feels stupid... baby Yoda's only in there to keep people interested or entertained. I dunno... just feels completely aimless to me, but also my head's not really in the game right now.

I thought season two had more of a focused, throughline plot than season one, which is actually exactly as you describe. Season two's first half is getting him to a Jedi, and the entire back half is the fallout of the fuckery that ensues from that. I kind of wanted it to be more like season one, in fact, but what season two does is present so much more of a cohesive story arc that I can't possibly seeing them digging out an enjoyable third season.

So...I 150% disagree.

Still haven't watched season two, though I did finally break down and subscribe to Disney+ yesterday.

So, welcome to the HiveMind.
