BP Boycott Guide
« on: May 26, 2010, 01:08:53 PM »
RC posted "boycott BP" on FB, and I see that lots of folks are talking about it... But BP products go beyond just their service stations.  So this thread will be the full list of BP products (and affiliated companies/organizations getting money from them).  I know I'm missing some, so feel free to add to the list (or post news related to the list).

BP brands/companies:

Castrol

Amoco

Wild Bean Cafe

Partner companies/organizations:

The Nature Conservancy

Conservation International (they have recently cut ties with BP -- as of 5/24/10)

Of course, "BP" is really just a brand.  If anyone is truly in the mood to boycott, they should boycott all oil companies and work on freeing themselves from big oil.

Well, I have to buy gas so boycotting all oil companies is impossible for me even if nearly every single product we use wasn't the result of some petroleum based substance.

That said, some kind of economic message needs to be sent to BP. A gasoline boycott seems the place to start.

Yeah, just boycotting the gas stations is enough for most people. Sure, it's not going to murder BP, but it's the easiest thing people can do for maximum PR damage.

I stopped going to Exxon stations until 2009.  At which point I didn't care anymore and, you know, had no effect.

Give up!  Vote Bush!
