I actually feel like RLM has run its course. It's the thing where they did a drunken lark and then got caught in the shtick.
And, yes, I'm also angered by people who are upset with TLJ. Easily one of the best Star Wars films! And certainly better, probably, than we deserved. And of course it parallels Empire. How could it not? That's the eternal problem with reboots. For the simple minded folks, like the ones running the Star Trek franchise, they simply didn't even bother hiding the parallels. Part two is Khan, part three is a queer take on Search for Spock. I half expect the crew to be hunted by killer space whales in part four.
