British Soap Operas
« on: April 06, 2010, 08:02:41 PM »
I've long had this desire to pick a British soap opera -- once of the long-running ones -- and watch it all.  And write about it here like I did for TNG. But which one?

I think Eastenders, being a bit more gritty and having started in the 80's, might be a good one.

Or I could destroy myself with the pastoral drama of Emmerdale:

I've had a sick fascination with Coronation Street for several years:

I don't know anything about Brookside, and it's spiritual successor Hollyoaks:

Any suggestions?

The whole thing is complicated by the fact that the seasons aren't on Netflix...so I'll have to do some footwork.

you really...you just can't.  they're so horrible.  why do you think everyone else makes fun of them all the time?  you might as well say, "I'm going to start following 'Guiding Light'!"  is there no end to your madness?  you could spend all that time learning origami or something.

Nacho, the first step towards recovery is admitting that you have a problem.  You are a compulsive watcher of shit.

When I was a Freshman, my roommate had this tiny TV and these girls we liked (who didn't have a TV) would come over and beg us to let them watch Days of Our Lives.  So we had a daily viewing of that in our room because we were pushovers... and I got hooked on it.  I probably watched that show for at least a year.  So bad.
