I actually sat and read through that long article.  This sounds pretty awesome.  Google's attempt to fold all the social networking stuff -- from email and chat to facebook like shit -- together.  It seems a little overwhelming to my mind, since I only had to start dealing with serious computer stuff when I was 15 and now I feel like a time traveler.

I activated mine when I got home this weekend and...... I don't really understand what the point of it is?  It just looks like glorified email to me.

Exactly. It's solving problems with email that don't exist, really. It's a great underlying technology which will be significant in other areas, but the product itself isn't valuable enough to throw away email for.

I seriously have no clue what it is for.  I feel like it could be useful but for reasons I haven't fully grasped as of yet.
