Oh, American politics is regressive as hell. Obama is little better than Reagan at this point.

The Labour government has failed in many ways:

The BNP is a problem symptomatic of a poor government and social system (the last 13 years under Labour) which has failed to control illegal immigration and subsequent negative effects upon the socio-economic sphere which has now the highest levels of unemployed 'young people' and racial violence/intolerance.

The two illegal wars waged by Labour's ex-leader and war criminal, Tony Blair and Labour's flat out ignoring the British public's protests again going to war have led to voter apathy for many years (another reason why people ended up turning to the BNP) because the government fails to listen.

Labour's bed sharing with the financial sector was what allowed, in many respects, the collapse of UK banks, stocks and the massive recession in the British economy.

The Conservatives certainly look more attractive than Labour but David Cameron dislikes directly answering questions.

The Lib Dems are always categorized as "risky" or a "wasted vote" but their voter pool and support base have been steadily growing for years and could provide a surprise if people can pluck up the courage to vote for a party that hasn't fucked up the economy/welfare state/NHS in the last 30 years.

Well, as predicted, it's a mess.  Except...the Lib-Dems got their asses handed to them.

It's a shame - the Lib Dems were the only party talking something vaguely resembling 'sense' on some major issues.

Which might have been their problem!  Don't trust those types.  Trust the shifty two-dimensional puppets.

North Carolina Rep. Bob Etheridge's confrontation on a Washington street with someone trying to videotape him immediately led to speculation that the Democratic incumbent had badly jeopardized his chances of winning re-election this November.

Conservative blogs -- like Red State and National Review's The Corner -- quickly leapt on the episode to highlight the heretofore unknown candidacy of nurse Renee Ellmers.

The National Republican Congressional Committee reached out to Ellmers as well, according to a source familiar with the organization's operations.

Elmers, for her part, told the Charlotte Observer that donations from across the country had flooded into her campaign in the immediate aftermath of the video, adding that the incident "does put a whole different spectrum to who [Etheridge] is."

ExiledOnline commented that it's pretty suspicious that that video is edited and the faces of the antagonists is blurred out. Not defending his actions, but does cast a lot of doubt on what was said to make him get pissed off, and who was doing it. After the bullshit "Swift Boating" of ACORN and the reveal that those videotapes were absolute bullshit editing hackjobs, you'd trust these chumps to be honest?

"Remember how Obama said that US drone attacks have "not caused a huge number of civilian casualties?" Yeah, turns out they've been targeting rescuers at the scenes of previous attacks. And firing on mourners at funerals."

Yes, it's terrible that this hacked-up right-wing law from a center-right administration was held up by the most conservative court in decades, surely they and the insurance companies fundraising for them will be weeping into their lobster tonight.

Spain! The Catalan vote has been interesting to follow. They've now voted for independence -- which Spain has declared illegal. The next steps are fire and pain or the beginning of the end for Spain. Catalonia is just one of several regions that wouldn't mind going their own way.
