In other words, the goal is to stamp out what England's Chief Medical Officer Liam Donaldson last week dubbed "passive drinking" - the damage done to innocent bystanders and society in general when people drink too much.

Also, they've been jacking the price of cigarettes up for years and I'm still smoking them, so they're kind of losing on that front (well... really, I'M the one losing there).

Alcohol's going to be the same.  Until my 12-pack of American swill starts costing me $15 or $20, then my habits will probably remain pretty similar.

Besides... there are always 40's!  *shudder*

I say, sin tax the shit out of some weed.  They could tax that shit 75% and people would still be lining up to buy it.
