So I loved Spurlock's show.  Catching up with my downloads, hit episode 5 which puts two New Yorker's onto a weirdo commune and decided to check the place out.  Maybe I could spend my next six week freakout vacation on a commune fucking hippie chicks, right?

So I bounce on over to their web page and, well, they're a little cunty:

http://www.dancingrabbit.org/30Days_response.php

I was going to donate some money, too.  This response changed my mind.

Oh! I meant to download this. All I'm finding on the P2P networks is music by some "Humble Pie" band.

Where can I get this? Am I searching by the wrong keywords (30 days).

Hey Tyson.  We tried to give you a taste of what we had access to.  You all shunned us and told us you wanted no part of it.  Maybe when we move over to the new hosting we'll put some of this shit up for direct download.  Maybe not.  I know I'm not doing anything until I get someone out here to fix my shitting 1/2 mb down and 13Kb/s up shitty internet connection.  Fuck Verizon.

Didn't know you were interested, could have been feeding them through here.  Seriously, Yotoc and I can get anything you want.  That's never really clicked with folks, has it?

Dude, it's 2005.  Go get DSL.  Or Fios, which I keep saying I'll get.  Verizon knocks on my door every day and says, hey, Fios. We just had 500 guys dig up everything out there and lay those fucking cables and half of them died like when they built the Hoover Dam.  You can download a gig of movies in less than a second and we'll even hire a dwarf to suck your dick.

And I'm like, nah, I'm a dork.

Verizon even kicked up their DSL so it's twice as fast now and they say, see, now imagine Fios.  It's a million times as fast.

And I'm like, nah, I'm a dork.

I have DSL numbwad. It's the fault of people who set their upload cap to something a 300 baud modem would suck down with room to spare that I can't get much.

Jesus. You actually though I had dial up? I got cable at my parent's place back in like, '98 or something.

There's no fiber lines here, sadly. Even then, though, I can't pay $50 for something slower than my connection at school. With ethernet, I've maxed out downloading and uploading at 40Mbits per second. Bitch!

Oh, right, because you're using some public site.  Sorry, forgot.  Public Site boy!

So, let's see, download the three hour Donner cut of Superman 2 tonight or not... Hmmm....

Morgan Spurlock gives libeals a bad name.   Seriously, I hope he and his vegan chef girlfriend are ground up in a massive, conservative blender before smart peoble start believeing the crap this dude's trying to sell.  Minimum wage jobs suck?  REALLY?!?!  THANKS MORGAN, YOU COLLOSAL WANKER!!! WE DIDN'T KNOW THAT UNTIL YOU TRIED TO LIVE ON MINIMUM WAGE!

i mean, i guess what this guy's doing is admirable, but jesus h christ... .i hate him for it.  he's making fast bucks off the gullible.  I might buy the whole thing if I knew that his rectum was Super Sized during the whole process.

Fuck Morgan and FUCK his TV show...I'll give support to neither.  Supersize Me was Fahrenheit 9/11 with French Fries.

Actually, you'd be surprised how many people don't know what minimum wage jobs are like. Millions of Americans have grown up in the lap of luxury where the hardest job they've ever had was an office job. Their idea of an awful day is when the A/C goes on the blink.

These are the people who think Mexican immigrants (legal and illegal) who are picking your produce for $2 an hour have it easy. What Morgan is doing isn't Earth-shattering, but he is bringing those issues to a wider audience.

How is he giving liberals a bad name? He's one of the few willing to get up and do something about his beliefs and views.

He didn't bitch and moan on a shitty-blog about how evil McDonalds and other fast food joints are, he got up off his ass, pulled a clever stunt, made a movie, and got people talking. I commend him for doing that.

Me? I'm still bitching on my retarded blog.

Oh!  That's the first anti-Spurlock I've heard, man.  It's kind of nice to hear, too.

Now, I hated Super Size Me.  I think the only thing worthwhile were the interviews with truly soulless people.

I thought 30 Days, though, had some merit.  The muslim one, the gay one... No?

Please, continue.

That's the trendy thing to do these days: be against something not a lot of people are against. See my relevant blog comment in (???)'s blog.

So yeah, fuck CPR. That's a crock of shit. Saving the drowning and choking babies, children, and other people? Way overrated.

Shakespeare sucks too. He couldn't write a Dick and Jane book if you held his feet to fire.

oh... grand.  that's right... he ate McDonalds for 30 days, therefore he = authority on fast food.

you know what... Fuck morgan and fuck his vegan chef girlfriend.  I could (and it's been done at this point) eat at McDonalds every day for a week and lose weight as long as I make intelligent choices about what I eat, so there.

Morgan doesn't give the American public credit, and maybe he shouldn't, but the fault does not lie with McD's... it lies within our consumer society and the ways we choose to consume..

Okay, Supersize Me aside... 30 Days.  The wage slave thing has been done before by others.  It is something that's off the radar for many middle class Americans.  I found it fascinating.  You always hear about how these folks are living but it doesn't really sink in, you know?  I was shocked by the emergency room fees.

Then take Morgan out of it and pick these redneck regular joes for shit.  The Dancing Rabbit folks are being cunty.  They're saying, oh, the editing... But I can see myself having the same conflicts that I saw in the 44 minute episode of lies.

According to most Americans, yes. You have to be photogenic and flashy to get any attention. Does anyone read the billions of studies about fast food issues? At best, they scan the 10-word blubs in the footnote of some magazine. At best. Then they throw it away and eat more shit food.

With his movie, people got moving. People stopped eating fast food. People made better choices. McDonald's changed their menu and added all their water and salad frilly stuff. 20 years of studies didn't do that, it took a flashy movie. All style, little substance.

I'm not arguing that his movie was a solid piece of expert research. It wasn't. It was a tap dance. Razzle dazzle. Give the audience some whiz bang and you've got them hooked.

That's the thing - these corporations effect HUGE influence over our lifestyles. You'd be amazed. People don't notice because we've grown up with it. We don't know the difference. Think about how many logos you see every day. From my desk on a cursory glance, I can see about 52 logos and brand names. Imagine how many you see in one day. Adbusters is a good magazine and covers a lot of this "mental pollution".

Also, read No Logo by Naomi Klein. Eye-opening stuff, man. I'd continue, but it's all covered in No Logo.

I think the next big thing that's going to go completely unnoticed by the public is all these recent studies finding that all those "trace amounts" of common chemicals are really fucking us up. Perchlorate in drinking water causes brain and behavior changes in rats and has thyroid effects in people, DEHP in food packaging, toys, and building products causes birth defects in mice and early-puberty in girls, DBP in shampoos, pills, and plastic toys causes gene and hormone changes in mice and causes genital deformities in babies, BPA in plastic bottles and food-can linings changes brain behavior and causes sex organ problems in mice. But we all suck it down every day. WSJ has a decent article on it (today?) but it's still a quiet subject. Hopefully people are going to want to know why cancer rates and birth deformity rates have been rising the past few decades.

But all that's going to go unnoticed until someone puts the problem to snappy music and flashy dance.
