Well, okay, for the record, buying t-shirts and shit isn't what I'm bitching about. It's the shrine shit. The extreme stuff.
But, to address what you're saying there, Nubbins, buying t-shirts isn't caring or paying attention. Superficial interest doesn't hold water. That doesn't change anything. In fact, it's even worse than no interest at all. People go into this all agog and, when things go south -- as they always do in American politics -- they'll be so sick and fed up that they'll drop out forever.
We should not be focused on the man. We should be focused on our Congress, and our local responsibilities.
It helps, in this current case, that Obama has a sympathetic Congress. Hopefully that'll be the result in 2010, as well. Then we can enjoy four years with a strong president who isn't a fuck. But what happens if we get a backlash in 2010 because, simply, we don't take the mid-terms seriously and we're not paying attention? Low turnout = conservatism. Obama's presidency is over if that happens. And these superficial idiots will let that happen...because they don't understand beyond t-shirts and dinner plates. And they won't be bothered to understand.
