Next up in screener season is John Wick!

So far it's like Moody Taken.

Screener season continues with American Sniper!

Are soldiers really able to make phone calls to their wives from the middle of firefights in Sadr City whenever they want? We'll just crouch behind this wall as the apocalypse unfolds and chat a bit on the cellphone. Hey baby! Wanna have phone sex?

The most egregious is when he makes a phone call to his wife who does offer him phone sex while he's in position and supposed to be protecting a convoy.

No wonder America has stopped winning wars!

I got from this you didn't like it.  The previews look awesome and it's the only movie Missus RC and I want to see right now.

It's a sappy piece of shit. I mean, go ahead and watch it if you feel you won't be taken out of the moment by soldiers making cell phone calls to Texas from the middle of a firefight in Sadr City as they get overwhelmed Custer's Last Stand style.

Go ahead and watch it if you want two and a half hours of disjointed back and forth juxtaposing PTSD at home to multiple tours in Iraq and examining the effects as if we haven't seen that same exact thing in every modern war movie of this ilk.

Go ahead and watch it if you want long tense scenes where a kid is in the crosshairs and the situation is repeated again and again and, even when it's fairly obvious that this kid is going to murder a zillion people and the audience has no sympathy, we're supposed to identify with the top sniper's in history ongoing PTSD. But! To remind you that it's a kid being shot, we'll flash back/forward/all around for, like, 20 minutes about how American kids are great and our guy's a hero and he's a stand-up American at home and OMG now he has to shoot a kid WHAT WILL HE DO!?!?! WILL HE?!!??! That Iraqi kid with the rocket launcher is JUST LIKE A WHITE KID IN HEIGHT AT LEAST!!!

Ugh.

And then we get this weirdly flat ending that's supposed to mean something but doesn't mean something until the text scroll tells us what it means and then we switch to news footage during the text scroll explaining everything. Roll credits. Haha, we just stole two and a half hours.

Nacho's rating: Two Murdered Children out of Five.

Screener season continues with Wild. It opens with her peeling her toenail off. Not nice.

Oh yeah. That's the other one Missus RC wants to see. I somehow have no interest.

That's because Witherspoon is horrible.

40 minutes in, though, and it's okay. It's beautiful. But man, it's for chicks all the way. Grrl Power!!

Screener season continues with Force Majeure, the Swedish avalanche disaster porn flick.

At the 45 minute mark and nothing has happened except for a faux avalanche that didn't cause much trouble, the main couple fighting CONSTANTLY, the kids being annoying fucks, and people peeing in the snow with visible effort and pain as if they're passing stones...

I think this is actually the Swedish troubled marriage and constantly drinking wine disaster porn flick.

So I just looked up what the fuck Force Majeure was about -- the faux avalanche is it! The husband's decision to run (saving his iphone but not his kids) is the dilemma! It really is Swedish troubled marriage and constantly drinking wine disaster porn! It's a full two hours too! Good heavens...

An Oscar for what? Two fucking hours of a couple arguing and hideous CGI? That's only Oscar-worthy if you cast Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

Screener Season continues with Inherent Vice... Which is okay if you're a 30 year old who's never heard of Chinatown and thought American Hustle was really cool,
