Oldboy is great...but, really, do you think of it as a Tarantino movie?  Compared to BR?  I see why he picked it.

I also think Oldboy is the less original of the vengeance trilogy.  So, compared to the other two, it sort of pales a bit... In the end, it's formulaic...It's brilliantly crafted, but we've seen it all before.

When BR first came out, it was wild.  The modern update of Running Man.

Ok, that makes sense.  BR is definitely more of a Japanese Tarantino movie.  The tension at the beginning when the game is first starting is just incredible.

who did they get bought out by now?

Yeah...last I heard Pixar had the Scrooge McDuck tower and was diving into money all on their own.  No buyout.

Well there was the whole, "Disney bought them in 2006" thing...

Also:  Magnolia > Boogie Nights

I can see why Boogie Nights made his list and Magnolia didn't though.

The only thing I remember from Boogie Nights is Heather Graham Nudity Saturation combined with Things I Want Her To Do To Me.

So, RC...no reaction from you about Disney buying Marvel?

Marvel's declared bankruptcy so many times that it's actualy nice to see them now owned by someone who has a track record for weathering financial storms.

All I have to say is that Disney now owns Marvel AND Pixar which could be a match made in geek heaven.

So I'm working my way through the movies on Tarantino's list I haven't seen yet.  Last night I watched Memories of Murder, a movie about South Korea's first documented serial killer.  It was a fantastic movie.  It's interesting to see a movie about small town police working in what amounts to the forensic stone age trying to piece together enough evidence to catch a killer.  Good stuff.  Tonight I should be getting Joint Security Area, another Korean flick.

So 9 hasn't really been on my radar...until I watched the original short film (which the movie is based on):

A wonderful version of District 9 has leaked.  The Russian DVD, again.  But it looks great, sounds great, and has all the subtitles.

Waiting for The Road, now.  I bet I'll have it by the 20th of this month.

Well, a bit of a struggle to find a version of District 9 with subtitles... But I did.  Note to downloaders -- the initial devise download does not have subs, even though it claims that it does.  This was fixed with a release today.  So watch the dates... Yesterday's is bad.

While waiting for the new download to finish, we watched Up.  By far the bloodiest, most violent, and most touching Pixar yet.  Amazing.
