And if a conservative pundit who advocates the death penalty for drug users has a heroin addiction, HE NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS AND LOVE TO GET THROUGH THIS TOUGH TIME!

Wait, wait, wait.  Are we dragging Rush back into this again?

We can bring O'Reilly in too, if you'd like.

Oh! I'm clever.

Roberts signed on to a blank-check grant of power to the Bush administration to try suspected terrorists without basic due-process protections.

That's WONDERFUL!

The problem is that we have a bunch of non-terrorists sitting in cells with no charges brought.

So: The Constitution is full of crap?

What do the terrorists have to do with the constitution?  Don't start that 'they deserve equal protection' shit.

There's a number of Americans being held without charges and it happens all the time, even outside of this terrorism nonsense. They deserve the protections of the Constitution. However, for those not from America, we should at least follow some of the basic human rights principles that most people agree on.

This is all just a little bit of history repeating anyways.

I read a bunch of Tom Tomorrow strips last night from the Bush Sr. administration era and, if it wasn't for the "1991" symbol, you wouldn't know if they were old or new.

Then we can dig back in our archives to the happy fun Red Scare.

Communists! Spooky! OOooOO!

Any Americans being held do.  But, I don't know.  Are there any Americans being held?  We really should be clued into all that shit.

As far as being terrorists or non-terrorists, Tyson, we don't really know, do we?  They were doing something to draw the wrong kind of attention.  It's not like tanks rolled in and picked up random people.  It's also not like they're locked up in error.  I know that's everyone's favorite story, but when it does happen, it happens to the old guy who was locked up in 1798.  This is 2005, anybody in a cell for this shit has had their lives carefully picked apart.

See, I'm in favor of a country that isn't two-faced and elitist. If we're going to be a damn bastion of freedom and fair treatment, we better dish out that lovin' like soup at a homeless shelter. Honestly, I think all humans deserve a lot of the rights granted by the Constitution. Most of them are basic human rights. Free speech. Freedom not to be held without charges. Etc.

Americans are not some master race more deserving of human rights than anyone else in the world. Why else is the vast majority of the world sick and tired of our elitism?

Certainly, services like police and firemen and parks and nice roads aren't basic rights. Those are the rights we grant our tax-payers (ourselves). I pay $600 over the summer and some road gets paved in Bumfuck, California.

But America could certainly do without so many double standards.

You know you're full of shit nacho.  The only people locked up are nuns and kitty cats.  We 'detain' people with a lottery system.  If they pick your name you just vanish.

If there are any americans there I bet they're immigrants.  We've had a couple citizens get picked up and it's been because they were bad guys.  They've been well documented.  I don't care if Momar gets thrown in the back of van.  He probably doesn't belong here in the first place.  Fuck 'em.  I'm getting angry.  Leaving the thread.
