See, with the positive comments from Not The Usual GS Readers, I now feel guilty about the OBL article that posts in a few hours...because even I was offended by it while I wrote it.

As long as it's written in a clear voice of satire, I think it's kosher.  I'm offended by some of my favorite satire, e.g. the onion's dry voice.

If you don't offend someone you're not writing anything worth reading about.

Offending people is fun!  And strangely easy.  Like Michael on the voting guide... Man, maybe we do need McCain/Palin and a big war so that we'll not have so much free time.

You know, I think Michael was factually correct, although not very eloquent about it.

Everyone agrees with the 2006 court ruling that early voting is against the *Maryland* constitution.  That's why this ballot proposal is to amend the Maryland constitution.  No other constitution (e.g. US) is in play in the courts or this ballot.  Passing this amendment to the Maryland constitution recognizes and fulfills the requirements set forth by the 2006 court decision, by explicitly allowing more voting options in the Marlyand constitution.

You can't read either.

All I said was vote no on it because I agree with the 2006 ruling.  Which constitution -- US or Maryland -- doesn't come into play.

If I post something that says it is for X locale, then comments on the local questions for X locale are about X locale.  Logic, please.  The title of the article is voting guide for Montgomery County, MD.  Not the United States.

Or am I not getting it...?

Here:

The question:
Quote
Authorizes the General Assembly to enact legislation to allow qualified voters to vote at polling places inside or outside of their election districts or wards and to vote up to two weeks before an election. This amendment also authorizes the General Assembly to enact legislation to allow absentee voting by qualified voters who choose to vote by absentee ballot, in addition to voters who are absent at the time of the election or who are unable to vote personally. (Amends Article I, §§1 and 3 of the Maryland Constitution)

The case:
http://www.elections.state.md.us/voting/early_voting.html

Quote
the Maryland Court of Appeals upheld a ruling of a Anne Arundel County Circuit Court judge that early voting violates the Constitution of Maryland. As a result of this court ruling, any eligible voter who planned on voting during early voting must either vote in his or her assigned polling place...or vote by absentee ballot...etc.

And I said:
Quote
One is about early voting.  Vote no on that because I agree with the 2006 ruling that it’s unconstitutional.

It's moot now, but yeah: amending the constitution makes it constitutional.  I guess maybe your wording was unclear: "I agree ... that it's unconstitutional."  That would be very circular logic when you're talking about only one constitution.  (Which is why I guessed you meant the US constitution.)  If you meant something more like "I agree with the 2006 ruling [against, in some generic thumbs down fashion because early voting sucks]." then that's more a matter of opinion.

Again, the title of the article.  Not US, it's Montgomery County.

I agree with the ruling (it is unconstitutional) that the question wants to overthrow.

How is that unclear?

Nacho, it sounds like you missed that Questions 1 and 2 were state ballot initiatives, while Questions A and B were Montgomery County initiatives.  All residents of Maryland were given questions 1 and 2; they were the MD state part of the ballot.

Also, Montgomery County doesn't have a general assembly.  It has a county council.

Huh?  Are you reading a different article?  Because I have no idea what your argument is here.  It's like you've written an extra five pages to fill in for your argument here.

I've quoted what I said, and what it was in response to, and it was just a few simple words and not at all what you're creating here in your dreamland.  So... I'm done.  You can now spend the next five pages debating with yourself about the constitution of the Bahamas and the true name of god.  Enjoy!
