So one of my authors raved about
Extraterrestrial, which is written by an astrophysicist whose obsession is Oumuamua -- the strange asteroid that passed us a few years ago, changed course, and generally behaved like an artificial object. His thesis is that it's a light sail and, essentially, space junk from another civilization.
My author argued that this book was groundbreaking and life changing...and all the blurbers agree. What the book actually is is 1% the light sail thesis and 99% angry rant against the scientific community that ostracized this guy for putting forward the light sail theory. He spends so much time complaining about them and demanding that he's right it's exhausting. Instead of proving the theory, he spends the entire book trying to prove himself -- from childhood through today. A clumsy retort to his peers that does nothing to actually advance his theory. A theory, by the way, that the media and anyone who followed the Oumuamua story agrees with (including me -- it did behave as if it operated under its own power).
So...a waste of time. Fuck him.
