This is a pretty fascinating story about a set of granite slabs erected in Georgia that contain ten instructions for the reconstruction of society after a coming apocalypse.

I was just thinking that!  Did you see this other article that was linked to it.  Nothing to do with the stones, but still interesting.

It has begun!
There will come a day for every man when he will relish the prospect of eating his own shit. That day has yet to come for me.

This is going to become the Roland Emmerich movie thread for a while.

New trailer for 2012 the movie. It made me think back to when the trailer for Independence Day really blew my mind. Not that this had the same effect mind you.

I'm a sucker for this stuff anyway, of course.  But it does look like fun.  Are those spaceship arcs that the government is building?  There's almost a silver age sci-fi feel to this, eh?  Like something from the pulp mags in the 40's and 50's.

To me it feels more The Day After Tomorrow than Independence Day.

I secretly enjoyed Day After Tomorrow.  But, yeah, I think it's unavoidable that we're going to get More of The Same.  However, it looks like there's more of a survivor-focus here.  Yeah, we had the kid and the dad in Day After Tomorrow, and lots of glum people accepting the inevitable, but we didn't really care.  This looks more like 90% kill, then 10% run for your life.

(Which, by the way, is why I also secretly like the updated War of the Worlds.)
