My earlier post holds true.  The Beeb is deeply insane.  We won't know the air date until a few days before.  So, in theory, it should be announced by the end of this week.

I'm betting on Halloween.

That's seems to be horrible marketing. If there's someting on TV I want to see, I'll literally make plans to be home that night. (How sad is that?)

And Halloween? I'm totally watching bad horror movies I've seen a thousand times.

That aside, I want to see this.

The Beeb constantly does this.

It's brilliant marketing, really.  Because they blitz the shit out of it, give you a general air date, and then everybody plans to watch TV the whole week.

Of course, they only need viewing figures in the low millions to be a hit.  It's really fun when you have a small, captive audience.

The opening 90-minute episode of the new Survivors got its first press screening, on Tuesday 21 October, at the Apollo West End Cinema in London’s Piccadilly.

In attendance were many many of the Survivors cast and crew, including show-creator Adrian Hodges and actors Julie Graham (Abby Grant), Shaun Dingwall (David Grant), Nikki Amuka–Bird (Samantha Willis); Phillip Rhys (Al); Zoe Tapper (Anya) and Chahak Patel (Najid).

The showing was previewed by introductions from Ben Stephenson (Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning) and Adrian Hodges, and included the showcasing of the new series logo. The episode concluded with a ‘Coming next’ preview of the series’ second episode.

So, hopefully, an announcement on the air date is coming soon...

So I'm losing patience with the BBC... It's being advertised all over the place in the UK as "end of October," but, jesus... they've only got eight days.  Unless we're to take them literally and my Halloween bet pays off!

Might go pick this up today...

A full-colour five page feature on the new series of Survivors appears in the latest edition of SFX magazine (No.176, dated December 2008).

Written by Nick Setchfield, ‘Survival Instincts’ includes interview quotations from show-creator Adrian Hodges; actors Paterson Joseph, Philip Rhys and actress Julie Graham, and is illustrated by a range of official BBC promotional stills.

Also a sign that the premiere date announcement may well come today.

I'm looking forward to this as much as I was the new Who!

So, is there an air date yet or do I fly to England to torch the Beeb's main HQ?

No air date yet!

You have to admit...it keeps your attention, no?  Massive advertising... Everybody's afraid to leave their TV's.  They did this for Doctor Who, too.

We had the Dr Who airdate the week of.

I doubt they're setting it up to fail, because the Beeb is making a mint off of sci-fi these days.  They want this shit to catch on so they can have a dozen spin offs and multiple-season renewals.  More likely I'm just missing the announcement.
