So I've watched the regeneration sequence, and Capaldi's brief 30 seconds and 23 words, several times...and I'm now okay with it. Coming after such a long goodbye, and after an episode that tried to squeeze three years worth of loose plot ends into 60 minutes, it was a sneeze-and-you-miss-it scene.
Standing alone, though, there's plenty to take away from it... The accent. Another good Scottish Doctor! The look. Terrifying, then confused. Finally, I like the seeming alien-ness of him. Ten and Eleven were more human right out of the gate. In 30 seconds and 23 words, Capaldi is immediately in the cold, aloof, ancient alien zone that Tom Baker started out with.
I'm so looking forward to a mature Doctor. And ready to forgive all!
So I guess this thread will wind down after 27 pages and we'll move on to the season thirty-four thread...
