It's a goofy concept from the get go. Therefore, taken out of context it seems even less plausible than it is. It may be awesome, and I hope it is.

That said, the original had a creepy factor that those two clips lack.

Exactly the problem!  The creepy voice modulation thing is gone.  The uniforms are gone.  They all look like pasty bankers and corporate clones now.  Morena hardly drips the poison that Jane Badler had.  That second clip was like behind the scenes at Hollywood Access, not the start of a fascist takeover. 

And, yeah, that original was amazing.  The counting down...then the disembodied voice on TV and in the air. 

I think this will suck.  The only question is:  Will it suck as much as the original TV series after Final Battle?

Juliet is a crafty X-Files FBI agent instead of a doctor (which means we lose the Nazi/Jew thing with the scientists).

Yeah, the priest is the new Donovan.  Scott Wolf is the new Kristine Walsh.  The reporter chick who was sleeping with Donovan and became a collaborator.
