Fag.
Takes one to know one!

Okay what about Redford?  Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?  Great western.

I think they should remake Lolita kind of like they did with Romeo and Juliet... put it in a 2000's context, ya know?  Might make it a little bit more relative.

That said, I really enjoyed both versions of the movie.  I remember the one with Jeremy Irons was so controversial, no one would put it out.

Lolita put out, though!  Har har.

Butch and Sundance I'll agree with, Sirharles.

Also, I hated Costner's Wyatt Earp... 3 hours and 15 minutes of torture.  I loved Tombstone if only for Val Kilmer's incredible Doc Holliday.

As far as my favorite Westerns go, though... True Grit, The Magnificent Seven, The Wild Bunch and all of Eastwood's movies come to mind... particularly Outlaw Josey Wales and Unforgiven.  There has never been anyone better when it comes to a guy in the old West out for revenge.

Oh yes, The Magnificent Seven.  All the Samurai and none of the naked dancing men.

Josey Wales definetly, but as stated before Unforgiven just didn't have the same feel as his earlier ones.  I always felt that it was lacking.

The only reason the Jeremy Irons movie was shocking was because they used a real underage girl for all the love scenes.  They could do a 2000 version but his character would have to be a catholic priest now.

I didn't like Unforgiven the first few times I saw it, but the acting is among the best I've ever seen in a Western and after a while the movie really grew on me.  The reckoning scene at the end gives me goose bumps it's so awesomely badass.

Unforgiven is all about Hackman, for me.  He successfully pulls off a sort of generic homage to western bad guys while keeping everything in a grey area between villainy and not-so.

And I liked Eastwood because the entire movie we get snippets of stories about how evil a person Munny was before he got married and straightened his life out... we see this straight edge, softspoken guy and cannot for the life of us imagine that he was once evil... until the end when he's out for revenge.  It all builds and builds and builds the entire movie and it's just incredible.  I love Unforgiven.

I got the feeling it was supposed to be like that, but for me all I saw was Eastwood and I knew exactly where he'd been and what he was capable of.

"Well, sir, you are a cowardly son of a bitch! You just shot an unarmed man!"

"Well, he should have armed himself if he's going to decorate his saloon with my friend."

"You'd be William Munny out of Missouri. Killer of women and children."

"That's right. I've killed women and children. I've killed just about everything that walks or crawled at one time or another. And I'm here to kill you, Little Bill, for what you did to Ned."
