I choked through two glasses because people wearing Lord Baltimore's crest were watching me, swords half drawn.

Reggie, are you sure that isn't just the MD apologist talking?

It might be. I've had 5 or 6 and I think I really like it. I don't like most beer anyway, so maybe it's the weird factor that's making me come back for more. I really like Old Bay also.

Hold on, I have to drive down to DC now and crash my car.

Are you being pursued by Lord Baltimore's men?

Flying Dog's Bloodline is...highly addictive.

I'm not a fruit beer guy, but something about blood oranges and beer drives me crazy. I can't get enough of the stuff...and nor can anyone else. It's plucked off the shelves as soon as it arrives, and I'm lucky to get one six pack every 14 days or so.

What I realize I should be doing is getting away from Flying Dog and exploring the new, cool world of craft beers. But there are so few options:

Quote
Flying Dog’s Bloodline Blood Orange Ale is probably the most well-known and widely available. It has its origins from the 2013 Craft Brewers Conference, which was held in DC. The original release is here. The beer was a collaboration with the Reyes Beverage Group (Premium Distributors). Craft Sales Manager Ryan Curley told us yesterday via Twitter that Nick Smith of New Belgium’s DC team apparently was the progenitor of the combo.

Beyond that, Lagunitas has a new edition to their “One Hitter” series (because of course they have a “One Hitter” series) called the Citrusinensis Pale Ale that should be around DC for a limited time.

Elysian also has a seasonal known as Superfuzz, which is a blood orange pale ale.

If you don’t want an IPA or a pale ale, check out Anderson Valley’s Blood Orange Gose, which is a tart, salty, citrusy blast. Their site says October-April, so that’s sad, but maybe you can still find some on the shelves.

Bluejacket has made at least two beers with blood orange: The Orange Line, a blood orange wit, and Tiger Tale, a Belgian strong ale with 100 pounds of blood oranges. Neither, to my knowledge, is available right now or has been re-brewed.

What else are we missing? Let us know in the comments, but these some that come immediately to mind.

Incidentally, if you can't (or won't) drink beer, but still want to get in on the fun, check out Sanpellegrino's tasty blood orange soda.

Bloodline is impossible to find on my side of the Potomac. Other Flying Dog beers are widely available, but not that one. Go figure.

It's not just you. MoCo gets four crates in every other Monday and they don't even make it to the shelf. People line up for this beer.

The Best Way to Day-Drink Is With Low-Alcohol Brews

This Independence Day, we should take a page from the Founding Fathers, as well as our ancestors around the world, who imbibed gallons of low-alcohol beer pretty much all the time.

So, I'm back on Sierra Nevada's Celebration after being disappointed by Flying Dog's K-9 whatever.

Any winter brew suggestions? This is typically my favorite beer season.

No. I think everyone has lost their thread in the Craft Beer Battle Zone. I've been let down by everyone so far.

Nacho wanted a report on New Belguim's Side Trip, a white IPA. I got really IPA-ed out, and have avoided them for themes part over the past year, which is hard in the craft beer world because it's apparently the easiest thing to make.

So chalk it up to distance making the heart grow fonder, but I'm enjoying this one. It's hoppy, but no overbearingly hoppy. There's other flavors that come through. As a white IPA, it's also crisp and easy to drink.

RC says it's worth a six pack to give it a day in court.

We were very bad last night at a local bar's storm party. Which is sad because I'm sitting here thinking I'd like to just crack a beer and watch the neighbor have a heart attack trying to shovel two feet of snow, but I feel ooky.

Nacho asked me where I got Sweetwater 420 in another thread. They have it on tap at a dive bar called Alley Cat in Alexandria, VA.

I should clarify that I haven't found a six pack for sale in any store.

Nacho moves to Alexandria in this thread.

Sweetwater is currently the best brewery and beer in America. Though by the time they get big enough to actually start shipping to my locale, they'll be sub-par like all the rest.

I used to intentionally schedule layovers at ATL just to go to the Sweetwater pub.
