Ballot Initiatives

Don't forget to find out what initiatives will be on the ballot in your state.

Here's the ones for Virginia. The stupid marriage amendment is on the ballot.

In Maryland, one initiative is going to be:  Feel sorry for Steele?  Yes:_ No:_ Maybe:_

There are signs that say "Vote Yes for Marriage" everyhere.

I want to spray paint "gay" on them so they say, "Vote yes for gay marriage." Since no one reads, all the socccer moms will vote "no" and Nacho and I can finally be together.

According to the every third word theory, you should cover up the "for" with "gay" so everyone looks at the sign and sees that one word.  Every morning:  GAY, GAY, GAY.

maryland doesn't have many referendums and they're not very exciting.  I'll generally follow the WP's recommendations on them (but not on their choice of Ehrlich for Gov!!!)

Hey, Nacho:  you can vote for this guy instead of The Smiler (Hollen)!!

Fine.  No problem.  I'd vote for Nixon before Van Hollen.

In other words...."I'll generally follow the recommendations of the liberal Washington Post...except when they inexplicably endorse a non-liberal!"

That does appear to be what it amounts to, yes.  Are you calling a liberal?

I said I'd follow their recommendations after having skimmed them and the resolution texts.  I meant my statement in a descriptive, rather than a prescriptive, sense.  I do intend to follow up with more research before making my final decision.

I'd trust the WP's endorsements as far as I could comfortably spit the entire Sunday paper.  If I care enough, I usually take the WP's lead and go to the candidate's websites.

Fortunately, I come from a family of liberals and I live in Maryland, so it's mostly party-line voting for the mid-terms.  Except I'll do the Zeese thing, and your Green Goblin guy instead of the Smiler.

And I love our questions.  Nothing's ever interesting in MD...

Quote
Question A: Amend Section 107 Council Membership

Amend Section 107 of the County Charter to specify that membership on the Council must be considered a full-time position for the purpose of setting Council members compensation.

Uh...sure.  Or no.  Whatever.

Quote
Question B: Amend Section 208 Executive Legislation

Amend Section 208 of the County Charter to clarify when the County Council must send enacted legislation to the County Executive and when the Executive must act on that legislation.

You lost me at Que.

I like this one:

Quote
Question Three: Civil Jury Trials

Shall the Declaration of Rights, Article 5, be amended?

This constitutional amendment authorizes the enactment of legislation that limits the right to trial by jury in civil proceedings to those proceedings in which the amount in controversy exceeds $10,000.

So...take away the right to trial by jury unless it's a big deal case?  But...I like having that right.
