Seasons four and five of Dexter were terrible. I quit watching halfway through season five and moved it to my "personal cancellation" file. But, last month, the creators came out and actually apologized for the last two seasons, and said they were going to get back to basics in season six and, pretty much, begged everyone to give the show another chance.
So I did. And it's fun to see that not having watched most of season five doesn't hurt this season at all. We get a recap of the last five seasons, and then we launch right into a fresh, new season with no ties to the past. It's a weird breed of soft reboot.
Episode one was fun. Mainly because Edward Olmos is the big bad this season. That, alone, might keep me watching.
So...we'll see. The premiere is better than the last two years combined, though.
