nacho:
I could have sworn we had a Dexter thread...

Anyway, four episodes in and I'm loving it.

Based on the series of novels by Jeff Lindsay, Showtime puts together a lovingly loyal little show with Michael Hall at the helm.  I hated him in Six Feet Under, but he's amazing in this role.  It's what he should have been doing instead of little prissy boy roles.

Julie Benz is in as his girlfriend.  Known well in the Buffyverse, she does the opposite.  From tough girl roles to prissy little girl...and she does very well.

So the gist of the story is -- Dexter's a serial killer who is all about killing other serial killers.  So...he's a bad guy, but he's a hero.  His thing is blood.  He's cold, inhuman, troubled, distant, controlled, and captures the whole obsessive serial killer thing beautifully.  RC should be studying this one...

By day, he's the blood specialist for the forensic dept. at Miami PD.  By night he hunts and kills.  We're now caught in a slow, moody story arc where a serial killer known as the Ice Truck Killer is playing cat and mouse with Dex, all while the dumb cops stumble around trying to figure out what's going on.

I love the opening titles -- all dreamy texture that really makes me want to eat breakfast.

Cassander:
saw a trailer for this over the weekend...couldn't decide if it looked really gimmicky or good.  i might give it a try, but i just finished season 4 of the wire.  i might be a little TV-ed out.  Rescue Me and the Shield won't be back until next year, Studio 60 lost me, deadwood's all over but the movies...might be time for a little break, get some reading done.  Let me know if the season takes off as a whole and then I'll get back to it.

RottingCorpse:
Lots of folks are talking about how good this is.

Goblin_Queen:
I love the billboards because it takes a second to get it.  I love six feet under, but the gay scenes with Micheal Hall and the big bald black guy used to make me really squeamish.  I like gay guys as much as the next girl, but they just seemed to be a little too realistic.  I guess that's how you know the guy's a good actor.

They might not be acting that part.

I often avoid the TV thread but I read this on the hopes it'd be about Dexter's Laboratory.
