Ah...Star Trek V is out.  With Kevin Murphy (Tom Servo).  Rifftrax hits its stride.

Yeah... Finally finished it.  The Star Trek V riff is terrific.

Top Gun and Titanic are leading the page's poll for the next riff.

Star Trek V really puts it in focus, though... Mike and crew need a bad movie to riff.  So don't worry about downloading the others, Cass.  You want to find this one.

They just set up their forum:

Oh, god, they're doing c ocktail next.  My Netflix friends will mock me when I move that up to the top (as the meshed audio-video downloads from the thieving net aren't any good, in the end, because the movie audio is removed.  Note to you, Cass -- don't bother with them.  The riffs can be tedious without the movie soundtrack in the background).

Ooh, RC.  Looks like Friday the 13th is going to get riffed.  A close battle with The Sixth Sense on the poll.

Meanwhile, XXX is up, and some Britney Spears movie is in the pipe.  After that Mike and Tom Servo (or the ghost of Tom, eh?) do X-Men.  Nice!

e: Oh, and Crow (Bill Corbett) is signing up.  So there we go, the MST3K gang is back.

Thanks to Mike Nelson, I just watched Cocktail for the first time.  Thank god his commentary was there to help me through it.

Next: XXX followed by Crossroads.  That's the way to spend a sick day!

I had an incident in 1993 and part of what I had to sign to be released was a promise that I wouldn't watch those movies again.

So I was watching some TV program the other night about monsters in movies or something on the Discovery Channel (it's pretty much all we watch), and for about 2 seconds, they played this blurb from a movie that looked absolutely hilarious... it said it was the first of its kind: A zombie musical!  I made a mental note to find it because it looked so hilariously awful and then promptly forgot what the fuck it was called.

As luck would have it, my 365 days of stupidity calendar here at the office had the blurb from the movie listed as the stupid quote for Saturday the 16th!!!

Quote
INCREDIBLE is the word for the world's first monster musical!  See in magnificent Eastman color--the DARING DANCING, enticing and horrifying--The INCREDIBLY Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies!!  Who is the woman branded in birth, wearing the wart of horror?

What are the friggin odds?!  All I could remember about the title was the Incredibly Strange part... I couldn't find it on Netflix at all, but now that I have the title, I plugged it into Netflix and BLAMMO: MST3K has an Incredibly Strange Creatures episode!  Needless to say, I am Netflixing that and the Manos: Hand of Fate one as well.  It should be supremely shitty.

Actually, watch it without the Mistie treatment.  Please.  Incredibly Strange Creatures is wild, insane, offensive, hilarious and powerful just on its own...and should be enjoyed that way.

I also suggest Color Me Blood Red ("I'm....working out an idea!") and Two Thousand Maniacs.  You would be doing yourself a great favor if you got the Herschel Gordon Lewis and Doris Wishman collection into your head.

Now, Incredibly Strange Creatures is from Ray Steckler.  Once you're done with it, I highly suggest you continue with him by getting Rat Fink a Booboo.  My favorite of his work.  Thrill Killers is considered his breakthrough film, but don't be fooled.

The only Netflixable version of Incredibly Strange Creatures is the MST3K version... I'm not even sure the unadulterated original is available on DVD anywhere.

It is:

http://www.amazon.com/Incredibly-Creatures-Stopped-Mixed-Up-Zombies/dp/B0002JP2V6/santafewriterspr

12 bucks isn't bad... I have it on VHS.  Those are magnetic tape cartridges that are played in special machines called VCR's.

Go to the suggestion box on Netflix and ask them.  They'll have it in a couple weeks.
