For everyone who's ben waiting 25 years for an Army of Darkness sequel, Doctor Strange 2 is probably as close as we'll get; Magic books of the damned, Deadites, Bruce Campbell punching himself in the face, and a gonzo zombie ending... Its full tilt Raimi firing on all cylinders. To call it daring would a bit much, but I'm surprised he got away with this much irreverent insanity under the Marvel umbrella.

This is the only endorsement I need!

I don't know quite what it says about me, but would you believe that I have only seen the first Ironman movie? I've seen a couple of the new Spiderman movies, so maybe those count.

Ash v. The Evil Dead is the Army of Darkness sequel! Made especially hilarious because they don't have the rights to Army of Darkness and yet those events were ultimately at the center of the show.

Related to our nostalgia porn discussion in the NuWho thread a couple weeks ago, this is an amazing article about the fall of Marvel movies. I'm too lazy to go back through this thread and check, but I believe I called this a long time ago.

Great article! Marvel really glutted the market. I've been pissed at the franchise for a long time. In fact, the only real standout movies for me have bene the stand-along stuff. The originals, like IRON MAN, and things like the firs two GUARDIANS and the first BLACK PANTHER.

Everything Avengers feels like what the Batman franchise did in the 90s -- squeezing every single possible character into one movie so there's no narrative, nothing at stake. If there is something at stake, it's always magically undone. And, oh, did you not watch the 581 hours of terribly scripted TV content? Then you'll NEVER know what the fuck is going on. No refunds!

I know folks who have felt this way from the beginning. They just want to watch a Thor movie, not have to follow some complex lore linked to movies they haven't watched or don't want to watch.

And I can't remember where I read it, but someone said, "You know, they did get us all to see a movie called Endgame. As in 'The End.' Why should they expect us to come out for more?"
