Horror Cons & WS Screenings
« on: August 08, 2006, 06:15:19 PM »
So, HorrorFind Weekend is in Baltimore this weekend. I can't make it due to my call backs for Women's Studies, though I may drop in on SUnday.

However, I'm seriously thinking about heading up to Pittsburgh on September 15-17 for the Genghis Con to do some networking. Nacho, we should make some drunken debauchery out of it.

September's like a dream to me right now.  But if that weekend's free, no problem.

All right, so the editor starts work on putting together the pieces on Monday. The idea is to get some promo footage ready to premiere at the HorrorFind Weekend in Baltimore, MD on August 10 - 12, 2007.

This is a pretty big con, and Mrs. RC and I have a pretty big convention plan that we're going to implement. We'll have a pretty kick-ass table display in the main hall and I'm hoping we can work something out with the organizers on tings like trailer screening and maybe even a Women's Studies seminar. It's still early though.

Nacho, you must be there.

And...there we go.  A long Saturday at Horrorfind which involved far too much alcohol.

The Ningen Manga booth was the best at the event...with lots of giveaways, Mrs. RC looking hot, and the teaser trailer playing over and over.  Every 30 seconds for seven hours... All I could hear in my dreams was the music from that trailer.  I'm surprised RC wasn't up in the rafters by the end of the day.

It was good. Really good. We passed out over 1,000 give-aways and got a copy of the teaser trailer and press kit into the hands of a distributor rep. I alos think we're going to get some good copy out of it including a possible Maxim/Femme Fatale-esque photo spread featuring whichever members of the cast are willing.

People really seemed to like the teaser and among all the indie films, we had one of the most professional booths there. I felt like the Women's Studies buzz was universally positive.

That graduate woman (same one, unless there were two women in graduate school for women's studies) was gushing a mile a minute about WS -- at the end of the conference she'd even gotten on the phone and was still talking rapidly about WS.

The Horrorfind Panel (working with conventions)
« Reply #8 on: March 02, 2008, 10:50:23 AM »
Women's Studies will have an hour panel at Horrorfind Weekend where we'll premiere the first eight minutes of the movie and our new trailer.

I talked to the ladies at Pretty-Scary.net and they're 90% sure that filmmaker/journalist Jane Rose is going the moderate the panel which will feature me, Producer Cindy Marie Martin, DP Aaron Shirley, Tara Garwood and HOPEFULLY, Judith O'Dea. We're still trying to get the schedule straight with the Horrofind organizers who are probably also having to work around the Night of the Living Dead 40th anniversary schedule.

It's nutty because we want to, you know, send out a press release and try to drum up an audinece for this thing, but the fear is that it'll be the week of the event before they get the schedule locked down.

So, Jane Rose couldn't make it. Jen Tonon, a local filmmaker and Troma freak will be moderating. Jen and I know each other socially, so it should be good.

Krya Schon, "Karen" from the original Night of the Living Dead, posted pics of Mrs. RC and I drinking with lots of Dead cast members during March's Horrorfind Weekend.

Got some awesome footage at HorrorHound Weekend which I'll be posting soon.

Nacho owes me special snuggles with happy endings for the Catherine Mary Stewart signed photo and the Joe-Bob Briggs signed book that I got for him.

There's a screening of WOMEN'S STUDIES this Saturday, April 24th, at The Lorton Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA. As writer and director, I'll be on hand for a Q&A after the screening.

Seating is limited. Ticket information can be found here:
