Owned... indeed.
There will come a day for every man when he will relish the prospect of eating his own shit. That day has yet to come for me.

don't forget the bears
"If it were up to me I would close Guantánamo not tomorrow but this afternoon... Essentially, we have shaken the belief that the world had in America's justice system... and it's causing us far more damage than any good we get from it."

I still maintain that the bears forced nothing more than a temporary truce.

Blur are BLEEDING EDGE, dude!

I'm surprised you've heard of them, being all the way over in Freedom Land.

I think "mauled" was the word.

Arthur Nersesian is a tad old, but "The Fuck-Up" was pretty good. He's an "MTV" writer, I think.

Tim Hall ("Half Empty") is going the indie route and doing pretty well. I liked Half Empty quite a bit, but his new book "Triumph of the Won't" is WAY out of my current price range at $9. Also, I spent $40 on an art book.

McSweeney's is still clinging to the "bleeding edge", but it might not forever. Anyways, here's what the cool kids are reading: http://www.mcsweeneys.net/books/future.html

And Bookslut is usually on top of the "hip" new writers: http://www.bookslut.com/blog/

oh, that reminds me!

my mole inside mcsweeney's sent me a care package.  Yannick Murphy's "Here They Come" was a good read.  i don't know if she's young or new, but she's decent.  hemingway and judy blume collide.

mcsweeney's 18 was a borefest, but the Believer was decent.

course, you probably started this thread to find people that...don't have deals, right?  yeah.

Oh, also: Jonathan Safran Foer. "Incredibly Loud and Incredibly Close" was an excellent 2nd novel. I think he'll only get better with time. Hopefully.
