By the way, first time I've seen the mini-series since it aired, so nice to dive in after a season and a half.

Love watching Kevin Spacey Cylon. His reactions.  Not only knowing that he's a Cylon, but he's a sort of boss amoung the bosses.  There's a sort of sizing up, isn't there?  Early realization that Adama is going to be a problem and this little distant ship far from the big action could cause trouble.

I also wonder how much of "the Plan" was imagined at this point?  Where does Adama and the Galactica fall into  play?

Some combination of all of them. I think BSG's success is because everyone involved is so into it and working hard on it. It elevates the art to something so much higher. When a cast is all into something, and the writers and everyone else are at the top of their game, there is the possibility for really, really good things. That's something that's struck me about the Lost writers and the BSG writers. Most of them have worked for a long time, Moore is pushing mid 40s, I think, and they've all worked in so many different environments, sometimes getting fucked over. But now they're working on some of the best television shows in years.

Also, being a struggling TV show helps so much for the first season. The more commentaries you hear, the more you'll realize so many decisions were made at the behest of the budget. The first Star Wars movie? So many decisions based on finances. And it's a fucking good movie. The last one? Practically unlimited budget. Sucked balls, compared to the first.

So what happens when the budget bumps up?  Money corrupts, right? BSG, Lost (and, elsewhere in the world, the new Dr. Who) are all insane successes and have the cash they need to do whatever they need.

Now, Lost, after two episodes, is still strong.  BSG, of course, is beautiful.  We won't see if Dr. Who fucks up until springtime... So the talent can maintain even when the budget isn't as much a concern?

I'm wondering about the Lost in Space redo.  That's going to be hard, because James Callis is the obvious Dr. Smith, isn't he?  I'm watching Baltar here and hearing Ron Moore talk about LiS and thinking, oh, come on...I'm really watching Dr. Smith.

Since Moore tried LiS first, I wonder how much of Callis' role is a carryover from an early dream to create the perfect Smith.

See, here, when Kevin Spacey goes to get Apollo and try to upstage Roslin, is it true panic?  Caught off guard that Roslin rallied as quickly as she did.

Now I do like how Moore says the Cylon characters did alot of ad libbing on scene.  Like dirty Cylon guy after the bomb blows on Ragnar Station gets up laughing.  Totally ad libbed, "because if these Colonials don't die in the attack, they'll just blow themselves up eventually."

And, holy shit, Apollo's British!
