Buy Big Dead Place, you'll love it.

A friend and I are planning on Germany next year, perhaps some World Cuppage.  If you want to be included, throw your name in the mix.  June 2006 is the travel period, I'm taking the whole month off.  Honestly, I'm probably going to ditch the German idea and go a bit further out there.  Asia or Africa.  Anywhere, really.

Necro-bump!  Long Way Down:

http://www.longwaydown.com

Quote
Long Way Down is the title of the latest motorbike adventure being undertaken by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. It is a follow-up to the Long Way Round trip in 2004, where the pair rode their motorbikes from London to New York via Europe, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia, Canada and the United States.

For Long Way Down, they will ride from John o' Groats in Scotland to Cape Town in South Africa. The journey is planned to begin in May 2007 and they will again be accompanied by cameraman Claudio Von Planta. No route for the trip has yet been made public, and it has not yet been announced whether BMW will again supply the motorbikes.

As with their previous trip, and Boorman's Race To Dakar, Russ Malkin and his production company Big Earth will produce the series. The television series based on the trip is due to be broadcast by the BBC in September 2007.

The Long Way Down site now says "coming next week"... But everywhere else says September is the air date.

I'm really looking forward to this, even though I know it'll be more polished than the first.  They've learned their lessons.

2200 Miles to go with, as usual, a manic Charley and a depressive Ewan.

outstanding!  still haven't read the first book.  any chance charley and ewan were able to stamp out the last stages of apartheid while in South Africa?  or possibly contract aids in the Inner Congo?

More like they just ran out of pavement and had spent too much time together at the halfway mark so Ewan cried for a bit while Charley became perversely optimistic.

Episode one!  Amazing stuff... So I want to do this.

They start out saying Long Way Round was too much so they want to do a shorter, easier trip.  But for those of us who have been reading the blog, we know that a shitstorm is coming their way.
