Deceptively easy.  You start out with a thousand turns.  I built a community of 200 folks, farmed enough food to arm 72 soldiers with rifles and flamethrowers, then stockpiles half a million food units and secured 10,00 spaces of land.  So, I guess, I'll come back in three hours to find that an Alliance of 15 year old internet geeks have destroyed me.

I didn't stockpile any food.  Hopefully that won't mean my people will all starve overnight.

Magic numbers are your friends.. wish I'd found this earlier.  These are good for another hour (12am EST) but it also describes the concept and general ranges.
